“Hard to convey in words how truly happy I am with the work that Phil Rudick did in helping with my kitchen remodel. I have a home that was built in 1983 by NPC. The kitchen was very dated and in dire need of updating. With Phil's guidance and design concepts, I now have a kitchen that is modern, functional and, as many have stated, gorgeous! Phil is really a joy to work with. So much so that he is now helping me with my master bath remodel! Thanks also to the Urban Kitchens & Baths preferred contractor and his crew. They did an outstanding job and were a pleasure to work with. Their contractor has worked with Phil for over 30 years and they know how to get things done. They show up when they say they will and call when they may be late. Just a great experience all around.”

“We had a complete addition and design. Phil had very good communication with the contractor.

He was highly precise and efficient as well as very pleasant at all times. Everything turned out beautiful and classic and we always get many compliments on the project. He is the one to hire for perfection.”

“After months browsing through multiple magazines and hundreds of photos, we decided to take the plunge and get our kitchen and adjacent utility room remodeled. The result was far better than anything we had seen in the photos and truly exceeded our expectations. Our secret? We contracted Austin's premier architect and remodeler, Phil Rudick, of Urban Kitchens and Baths. When we first went to Phil, we were reassured by his calm and confident demeanor and by the attention he paid to our desires and concerns. We wanted to modernize and beautify the space while maintaining some of its native charm. We decided we wanted to keep the funky, unique, angled upper cabinets and add new cabinets on the bottom. Tying new cabinets to the existing ones and blending the the new with the original was a real challenge. Thanks to Phil's creative genius, they now co-exist wonderfully.

Phil created much better function and access for the kitchen and Wine Bar/utility room. He created spaces for everything without adding on or making major structural changes requiring walls to be moved. He suggested wider, more comfortable doorways joining the kitchen, living and utility rooms that work beautifully. He integrated the original ductwork into the design. Phil challenged us to be creative and championed our vision and ideas, guiding us step by step, from initial design to final blueprints and through the painstaking remodeling stage, explaining every phase, taking our calls, coming to the house to solve the inevitable problems that came up. Crucial to the success of our project was Phil's recommendation of his preferred general contractor, a first class contractor, with a network of master carpenters, electricians, plumbers, painters and floor installers. The entire team abided by one guiding principle, which was Phil's basic philosophy: They were not satisfied until we were satisfied. Phil made our dream kitchen a reality!”

“I absolutely love my kitchen and Phil was right on target realizing my vision and making this my dream kitchen. The project was both a remodel and an addition. The kitchen was both. He not only created a functional and beautiful design, he advised on some changes near the kitchen that I can see now would have been a mistake without his suggested change. He was meticulous with details and in the end was always right with his suggestions. He also did a wine bar for us that seems to be a favorite area for family and guests. If you want your dream kitchen then go to Phil. I was happy start to finish.”

“Complete redesign (removed walls, changed lighting, relocation of appliances, added backsplash, new floors, new cabinets, remodeled fireplace and complete remodel of the master bath) of the kitchen/dining area/master bathroom in our downtown condo. Took a 1985 basic design and turned it into an open and stunning warm modern design. We could not have been more pleased with the results!”

“After struggling for almost two years to envision a better design for our kitchen, and thinking very seriously about moving vs remodeling, we finally decided to meet with Phil Rudick of Urban Kitchens and Baths for some professional help. Within ten minutes, he suggested a layout that would make much better use of the available space. After asking a lot of questions about how we cooked together, what we liked and didn't like about the existing kitchen, and what we were hoping to get from the new one, he laid out a functional and beautiful design that greatly increased our storage and counter surfaces, created an island with prep and dining space, all with enough room for both of us to cook together. The cabinet design was very thoughtful, providing practical storage for a wide variety of items, and making great use of the available space. Phil also designed our new lighting plan. The transformation of the space has been amazing - going from cramped, inefficient, and dark to light, bright, well-organized, efficient and beautiful. In addition to providing the design and the cabinets, Phil recommended their preferred contractor as our general contractor. The entire crew was very professional, timely, and competent. They stayed on top of the job, were very detailed, did great work, and kept our house very tidy during the entire process. The Urban Kitchens & Baths Team have worked together for decades and work very well together - they are both very detailed and conscientious. Phil also recommended the granite yard and granite fabricator that we used, provided consultation on our lighting plan, as well as helped with our coordination of cabinet, trim, wall and ceiling colors, cabinet hardware, flooring, back splash tile, and granite. Overall, we love how our new kitchen looks and lives - it is now the center and centerpiece of our home!”

“We looked at the big box stores, and were disappointed with the process, and product. We contacted Phil and Patti at Urban Kitchens, and their professionalism was like night and day above the rest. The product is so much better, and Phil was very professional. The process was very smooth, and easy, with a beautiful finished job! Our kitchen is better than we expected. Thanks Urban Kitchens.”

“I hired Phil to remodel my hall bathroom. He is great to collaborate with, incorporating my non-traditional choice of floor tile and mirror, and designing beautiful built-in cabinetry and counters that made the most of my space and kept the modern feel I was looking for. Phil made sure all the details were top quality. His team is very friendly and extremely competent. Everyone who sees it comments on the great design and quality of work. I am hiring him again right now to transform my bar area and I know it will be just as beautiful.”

“I recently purchased an older home with an incredible view from the kitchen and back side of the house, but upon entering you could not see the kitchen or the view. I knew I wanted to open it up but did not know how to accomplish this and I wanted a professional result. Hiring Phil from Urban Kitchens and Baths was the best decision I could have made. Not only did he present a plan to open the kitchen to the living area but he raised the fur downs to accommodate taller cabinets and designed a large island that I use for everything. The end result is a very open, attractive and efficient kitchen. Phil is easy to work with and has a remarkable eye for detail. I would highly recommend him for your kitchen remodel.”

“When starting the planning for my dream/retirement home I wanted to “build a house around my kitchen.” A general architect was first on the team, and soon thereafter, Phil Rudick at Urban Kitchens became my kitchen architect, planner, and mentor. The planning process spanned the better part of a year and a half, until building my ultimate kitchen began. The finished product was completed when it was scheduled to be completed and the materials, furnishings, and finishes were excellent. Phil worked seamlessly with the architect, interior designer, and builder throughout the process. This summer marked the fourth one in the house and my kitchen “works” in every way I wish. It is the beautiful heart and center of my home. It gives me continuing pleasure each time I use it. I recommend Urban Kitchens and Phil Rudick wholeheartedly.”

“I have worked with Phil Rudick on 6 projects over 35 years. He had done both new and renovated kitchens and baths and whole house renovations for me. The combination of being an architect and a kitchen and bath designer is important because those two areas are most likely to need improvement. His architectural skills gets you outside your existing box and shows you the possibilities of adding on or invading existing space. You would be foolish not to use an architect and Phil combines both design and architectural skills. Your project will not only look great but be structurally sound. Obviously I think highly of him or I wouldn't keep hiring him.”

“Phil and his team were great to work with and very professional. The cabinets for my client's bathroom turned out beautifully and I trust them for any project of mine. I highly recommend Urban Kitchens and Baths!”

“My name is Suzanne Crist and I am an Interior Designer. I have worked with Phil Rudick on several projects over the years starting in 1986, including my own kitchen. His knowledge of architecture, meticulous attention to detail as well as his excellent communication skills have produced beautiful results and very happy clients. He is easy to work with, professional, and patient even in trying situations. He is a man of his word and very good at keeping clients and designers updated. He oversees his projects from begining to end. He has such a through knowledge of the work he does and all the details that go into the finished product, that one never has to worry about the end result. I would highly recommend him to anyone.”

“It was a pleasure to work with the Rudicks for my kitchen remodel. They did a fantastic job in redesigning the layout and flow of my kitchen. The installation of the cabinets was top notch. They came out during the installation of the new cabinets to make sure everything was going smoothly and to make any adjustments. I would highly recommend them for remodel projects.”

“I have only the highest praise for Phil Rudick at Urban Kitchens and Baths. He is a genius at using the constraints of a space to achieve the maximum usage out of it while still creating the desired look and feel. I have hired him for three remodeling jobs at my house. The first was my guest bathroom. It was an odd shape and I had a very specific modern look I was going for. He and I worked well together to design the perfect bathroom. I also hired him for my bar remodel. Again, he worked with me on the look and functionality and we came up with a beautiful space. Our last job was a custom entertainment cabinet in our study. With limited space and very specific requirements, he was able to design and execute the perfect solution. I will use him when the time comes to redo my master bath and always recommend him to friends. His crew is friendly and top notch.”

“Phil drew up plans to completely gut my 1978 kitchen, dining, laundry area and open it up and make it more functional. The end result is beautiful! He tripled the amount of cabinet space I have, gave me more counter space, designed great lighting, and put me in touch with vendors who helped me pick granite, backsplash, etc. Phil was delightful throughout, and he recommended a great general contractor, and they worked extremely well together. I couldn't be more pleased! You may (or may not) find someone less expensive, but you will not find anyone with more of an eye for detail.”

“This is the second project that Mr. Phil Rudick has designed and directed for us. The project was a guest bath and study remodel. His design transformed the area and exceeded our expectations. This remodel is an outstanding addition to our home. Mr. Rudick's knowledge and guidance extended to many facets of the project. Mr. Rudick is an outstanding professional in every regard.”

“We decided to remodel our kitchen, adjoining sunroom, laundry room, and bathroom, and in order to get a layout that was the best possible for our house and our use, we decided to hire an architect to do a design. We contacted a few designers, but were most impressed by Phil Rudick at Urban Kitchens and Baths. He first met with us at our house to view the space and listened to our needs and ideas. His resulting design did a great job at making the best use of our space and he added several design elements that made it truly unique and beautiful. Phil paid great attention to details so that even the smallest things were not overlooked. For example, he made a recommendation to rearrange the location of the appliances for ease of use and came up with a great workflow. He also added details to the cabinets, sunroom, and laundry areas that unified the spaces. And he did all of this within our budget. In addition Phil has numerous contacts that we talked with to find the right suppliers and craftsmen to do the remodel. Phil was also helpful outside of doing the design itself. For example, he helped us pick the granite which can be a daunting process with all the choices available; he went to the granite supplier with us and recommended which ones he thought would work best with our design and color palette. He does charge extra for this type of assistance, but it was well worth the cost. We would highly recommend Phil Rudick of Urban Kitchens and Baths. He had great recommendations for us and we absolutely love the results.”

“Phil Rudick at Urban Kitchens and Baths has designed two kitchens for my family. The first was in 1984 in a starter house that had a kitchen with lots of wasted space. Phil’s design and the imported cabinetry changed the room into a workable efficient kitchen with eating area and plenty of storage. This room became the heart of the home. We were able to recuperate the cost of the kitchen remodel when we sold the house, years later. One of the greatest pleasures in life is to design and to use an efficient kitchen. I lived without this convenience for many years in a second house. In 2010 I called on Phil again to design one great kitchen out of two kitchen areas that were not working for me. Phil listened to my complaints about the kitchen and set about designing a new kitchen and butler’s pantry. Cabinetry, lighting, flooring, tile backsplash, countertops, hardware for the cabinets were all carefully selected in view of my budget. Phil’s years of experience with vendors and subs in Austin, mean that you deal only with nice people with the best service and products. Everything was delivered on time and within the estimated costs. There were no surprises. I feel lucky to have found Phil and his wife Patti Rudick as they started Urban Kitchens and Baths back in the 1980s. There is no substitute for a knowledgeable, experienced architect to accomplish the hundreds of details in a kitchen or bath remodel. Phil Ruddick was that professional for me.”
