Our Design Process

Phase 1

Consultation

Your project begins with a consultation. Phil will reach out to you to discuss your vision, space, timeline and budget. We will also provide you with an in-depth questionnaire that can help reveal thoughts and inspiration you haven’t explored yet.

Once we’ve gathered enough insight into the project, we will proceed with a design agreement and design retainer that will be credited towards a final cabinet price.

Phase 2

Developing Your Design Program

We meet in your home to evaluate and measure the space. We will carefully review your vision and daily habits as well as discuss new possibilities and potential spacial and construction challenges. It’s the most crucial meeting in the project, setting our clients’ design expectations, timeline and budget.

Refining Your Design

We will meet to discuss our design proposal, review samples of materials and additional vendor options. This includes countertops, cabinetry, appliance review, flooring, hardware and fixtures.

Finalizing Your Design

Once we’ve got a final design, we price your project. Our specific Urban Kitchens + Baths process ensures your investment goes into the project rather than paying 20% or more in vendor markups:

  • Urban Kitchens + Baths prices out countertops and cabinetry

  • Our contractor provides a bid based on the final design

  • We connect you with preferred vendors for the plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, flooring and appliance you selected

  • Phil is also available at an hourly rate for consultation and assistance in providing advice for vendors needed for your project

Phase 3

Introduction to Contractor + Construction

Our dedicated, turnkey contractor will work directly with you—and consult with Phil as needed—to see your project through to completion. Our contractor handles the entire project, from demo to finishing touches, to reduce nightmares with subcontractor scheduling, deliveries and installations. This partnership alone contributes to savings upwards of 20% on final project costs.

After the introduction to the contractor, project demo and construction begin.

We are open to working with other interior designers, contractors, builders and architects; however, we strongly recommend using our closed network of partners who can provide you with the most reasonable cost and accurate project timeline.

Project Completion

Congratulations, your long-anticipated vision has now come to life and you’ve probably already started to think about your next home-remodel project that you’d like us to work on.
